I've started a few TV shows over the years that I really enjoyed at first, only to feel like they lost their way after a few seasons. Sometimes the storylines become repetitive, characters change for the worse, or it just feels like the writers have run out of ideas.

I usually try to give a show a chance if I've already invested a lot of time in it, but there comes a point when even my favourite characters aren't enough to keep me watching.

What about you? Do you tend to stick with a show until the very end, or are you happy to drop it when it stops being enjoyable? Has there ever been a show you loved that you eventually gave up on?

It must be hard for example to write a police drama. There are hundreds out there that writing must be difficult.

There's also the fact that you get invested in characters for 3-4 seasons only to kill them off and replace them.

I honestly don't know how they find enough stories for Law and Order SVU without repeating it over and over.
