The Community Address – 08.10.26​

Welcome to The Community Address — a new weekly feature from GamingDNA where we open the doors and give you a look at what's happening behind the scenes.

GamingDNA is constantly evolving, and there's always something being worked on. Sometimes it's a completely new feature, sometimes it's an improvement to something that already exists, and sometimes it's an idea we're experimenting with that could become part of the site in the future.

The Community Address is where we'll talk about all of it.

What's New This Week?​

Faster Badge Awards​

We've improved the way GamingDNA handles badge awards, making the process faster and more efficient.

Achievements and milestones can now be recognised more quickly, helping your GamingDNA profile stay up to date with your latest accomplishments.

It's one of those improvements that happens largely behind the scenes, but it makes a big difference to how GamingDNA feels when you're using it.

Six Steam Achievement Scanners Are Now Live​

Our new Steam achievement scanning system is now fully operational, with six dedicated scanners working through Steam libraries.

This allows GamingDNA to process Steam achievement progress more efficiently while spreading the workload across multiple scanners.

There's quite a bit happening behind the scenes to make this work, particularly when we're dealing with large Steam libraries, so getting this system up and running is a pretty big milestone.

MySteam Is Live!​

One of the biggest additions recently has been MySteam.

Steam users can connect their accounts and explore their Steam gaming activity directly through GamingDNA.

You can now view your:

• Steam game library
• Achievements
• Achievement progress
• Completion percentage
• Playtime
• Gaming statistics
• Steam leaderboards

The aim isn't simply to import a list of games.

MySteam is designed to turn your Steam activity into another part of your Gaming DNA.

User Mentions​

We've also made improvements to user mentions, making it easier to mention other members around GamingDNA.

Whether you're replying to someone, giving them a shout-out or simply trying to get their attention, mentions are now smoother and more reliable.

It's a small feature, but these little improvements all help make the community feel more connected.

Poll of the Week Is Back!​

Poll of the Week is back!

We're bringing regular community polls back to GamingDNA, giving everyone a chance to have their say on gaming topics, share their opinions and see what the rest of the community thinks.

There are no right or wrong answers.

Sometimes it's interesting to see whether everyone agrees with you.

Sometimes it's even more interesting when they don't!

So make sure you get involved and make your vote count.

GamingDNA Articles Gets A Makeover​

We've also been working on the GamingDNA Articles section.

The new layout puts the latest article front and centre, with additional stories alongside it and more articles continuing underneath.

We're also building up a much larger range of original GamingDNA content covering:

• Achievement hunting
• Gaming features
• Gaming nostalgia
• Community topics
• Gaming opinions
• GamingDNA features

We've already started building that library, with articles looking at everything from achievement hunting to Steam libraries and gaming memories.

Expect to see a lot more articles appearing over the coming weeks.

MyXbox Continues To Grow​

MyXbox continues to be an important part of GamingDNA, giving Xbox players a dedicated place to explore their gaming history.

Members can view their Xbox overview, game library, unlocked achievements, individual game achievement performance and achievement guides.

We've also introduced Xbox achievement leaderboards covering:

• Achievements Unlocked
• Gamerscore Earned
• Games Played
• Games Completed
• Completion %

The goal is for MyXbox to become more than simply a list of games.

It's about giving you a proper snapshot of your Xbox Gaming DNA.

More Achievement & Badge Improvements​

We're continuing to work on the systems behind achievements, badges and progression.

A lot of this work happens behind the scenes, but it's incredibly important because these systems form a big part of how GamingDNA tracks your gaming journey.

The goal is simple:

When you earn something, GamingDNA should recognise it quickly and reliably.

That sounds straightforward, but there's quite a lot going on behind the scenes to make that happen.

Future Plans​

There's still plenty happening behind the scenes.

If you haven't already, check out The Wishlist forum, where I've posted quite a few suggestions for things I'd like to see added or improved around GamingDNA.

If there's something you'd like to see implemented, please vote for it.

And don't just vote — feel free to suggest ideas of your own.

GamingDNA is a community, and suggestions that could genuinely improve the site will always be taken seriously. The community can then help decide which ideas are worth pushing forward.

You never know — something you suggest could become the next big GamingDNA feature.

And There's Plenty More Coming​

There are several other areas we're continuing to work on behind the scenes, including further improvements to Steam, the Game Database, Gaming Events and other community features.

Some of these things are relatively straightforward.

Others require considerably more planning, development and testing.

And that's something I want to be open about.

One Important Thing To Remember​

Not everything mentioned above is a "tomorrow" job.

GamingDNA is developed around a full-time job and family life, so some features and improvements naturally take longer than others.

There's also a lot of testing involved.

Every time we introduce something new, there's always the possibility that something somewhere else decides it doesn't like the change!

And that's why your bug reports are genuinely important.

If you find something that doesn't look right, please report it in the Bug Reports forum.

Every report gives me another problem to investigate and, hopefully, another bug to squash.

GamingDNA is a community project, and the community plays a huge part in deciding where it goes next.

That's GamingDNA​

The aim has always been to build something that feels like more than just another gaming forum.

A place where you can track your gaming.

Earn achievements.

Take part in challenges.

Discover games.

Talk to other gamers.

Share your opinions.

And hopefully have a bit of fun along the way.

There's still a lot to build.

There's still a lot to improve.

And there will undoubtedly be a few bugs along the way.

But that's all part of the journey.
