Never bought a game based on a review. I make my own mind up after watch trailers.

Do you read reviews first?

Yeah, I tend to watch a video review prior to purchasing a game - but it doesn't always matter.

I'll still buy it despite the poor review score if I feel like I'd enjoy it, I just like to get a feeling for what the game is - especially if I'm looking at indie titles.

If it is a game that I am unsure of, I do tend to take a look at reviews. These are usually either written reviews or reviews made in a video by gamers who have played the game.

I have been burned a few times when it has come to buying games, and so now I am very cautious, and reviews tend to prevent me from making the same mistakes.

Depends on the game really. I might read a few reviews if it’s a game I’m unsure about, especially if I don’t know much about it. But I wouldn’t buy or avoid a game just because of what a reviewer says. I normally watch the trailers, look at some gameplay and see what I think for myself. At the end of the day, everyone has different tastes, so what one person thinks is great might not be for me.

Unfortunately, yes; the number of broken, unfinished, or bug-ridden games that are constantly being released means I have to pay attention to reviews to avoid buying a piece of junk.

Yes, for me, reviews still play a very important role when it comes to buying a game. I often check reviews and even videos on YouTube as well before I finally decide.
